Welcome to the Resource Centre for Multicultural Ministry
This is a resource centre for Christians engaged in intercultural Ministry. Our goal is to connect with one another and discover the many resources available to help develop a strategic vision and skills to reach your multi-cultural community. There is much we can learn from each other, from research work, from our experience. Perhaps your church can partner with their new ethnic church, sharing activities, and exchanging pastors occasionally.
"Who is my neighbour?"
Toronto is located in the most diverse region of Canada. Changes in the immigration policy in recent decades have attracted a great number of people from all over the world and the greatest concentration of these recent waves of immigration has been in Ontario and in particular in the city of Toronto. To put this in perspective, according to Statistics Canada, by year 2017 or sooner, the ethnic minority will become the majority in the Greater Toronto Area.
Map of Greater Toronto Area (GTA)
The Greater Toronto Area (GTA) has a population of 5,555,912 (2006 Census). It includes the city of Toronto and four regional municipalities. It is a total land area of 7125 km (2751 miles). The city of Toronto has a population of 2.48 million, 45% of GTAs. The city of Toronto has 52.4 % of all GTA immigrants. (www.toronto.ca/quality_of_life/diversity.htm)

Simply look around while you drive around the city or just in your community. This global context is complicated by the fact that North America is post-Christian and postmodern and, therefore, the church lives within a secular context.
Moving Forward
Society has been changed by technology and science, by economic developments and workplace practices. We are not living in the same society that we were 20, 30 or 50 years ago. If we are to remain relevant and to fulfill our mission, we must look around us and understand this very different context that God is calling us together to serve.
Ephesians 2:19
19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are citizens with the saints and also members of the household of God,
The newcomers from all around the world are seeking to bond together will naturally congregate and seek a place to worship because of common ethnicity, language and culture. We must go out into our community and intentionally seek out brothers and sisters in our midst; seeking to belong, looking for a connection, looking for fellowship.
We are always looking for volunteers, partners, contributors.
At this time, we are specifically looking for:
- Web design consultation and web protocol issues (legal matters, copyright issues, security concerns, etc.)
- Contributors of articles, stories, presentations, tools, etc.
- Marketing consultation.
- Editorial/Content management
