Engaging in Global Missions
Toronto is recognized as the most ethnically diverse city in North America . Our 2001 census indicates that visible minorities will make up 54 percent of Toronto 's population, up from 30 percent in 1991 and only three percent in 1961. Toronto is home to 42 percent of the total non-white population in Canada, including almost half the South Asian and black populations, as well as two-fifths of the Chinese, Korean and Filipino populations.
The nations of the world are literally on our doorstep. “Going Global” can be going to some distant land or it can be crossing the street to befriend your neighbour. The “Samaria Principle” is a reminder that God has given the Church in Canada an opportunity to reach out cross-culturally by engaging in mission right on our “doorstep”.
