Global Aging and Mission, Sponsored in partnership with Lausanne Canada and TIM Centre

April 12, 2008

Brief Description: The world is aging! "In 1950, 8 out of every 100 people  were over 60. By 2050, 22 out of every 100 people will be over 60.  By 2045, the global population of people aged 60 years and over will likely surpass,  for the first time in history, the number of children under age 15"  (fact sheet available upon request).

Is "global aging" on the mission radar? This Forum will look at that reality in the  light of our mission mandate. We will look at the global situation, and have  regional/continental focus groups (e.g. Europe, Asia, North/South America, Africa, etc.).

How will we respond? "You shall ... honor the aged, and you shall fear your God: I am the LORD" (Leviticus 19).

Date/time: April 12, 2008. 8:30-4:30.

Venue: SIM 10 Huntingdale Blvd (Finch & Pharmacy area)

The phrase 'missional church' has taken centre stage in  contemporary discussions about the Church for the 21st century."Missional" can become another buzz-word filled with all kinds of  meaning. This presentation will explore a critical question  concerning the focus of missional churches as it relates both to  language and practice. 1 Corinthians 12:12-13

12 For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For in the one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.
