Login and Account Questions

How do I get a login account?

  1. Choose “Login“ from the main menu.
  2. Choose “Create new account” from the User account menu.
  3. Enter your preferred username and email address
  4. Click the “Create new account” button
  5. Your request will be reviewed by a website administer for approval
  6. If your request is approved you will receive an email with further instructions

What are the policies that guide posting to the forums?

UReach Toronto is a site that encourages intercultural communication. Any communication across cultures will lead to some misunderstandings. Posting policies have been developed to encourage conversation and to discourage postings that may lead to misunderstandings. The forums are to be used for discussion connected to the vision and mandate of UReach Toronto. If you would like a resource or event posted on the UReach Toronto website please email your request to us at info@ureachtoronto.com

General Guidelines

  • Be polite at all times
  • Do not use ALL CAPITALS as it is hard to read and comes across as shouting
  • Use standard English to the best of your ability. Please avoid slang and abbreviations that may not be understood by all users
  • Please post a new topic if you would like to talk about something new. Use reply to talk about an existing topic. 
  • All postings are subject to the approval of the website moderators. Posting does not constitute agreement or approval by UReach Toronto, its board or its partners. 

Posting or linking to the following types of material will cause the post to be rejected and may lead to the user being banned:

  • illicit, illegal and/or adult material
  • profanity 
  • unauthorized copyrighted material
  • advertising, contests and/or SPAM
  • personal attacks and/or other types of abuse
  • confidential information 
  • claims which may constitute libel and/or defamation

Why do I have to log in?

An account on UReach Toronto allows a user to post to the forums and reply to existing forums. Registering also allows you to opt into our mailing list for UReach Toronto and related events. Requiring users to log in allows us to keep out spammers. It also allows us to restrict access to individuals who abide by the policies of this website.

What do I do if I lose my password?

Choose “Login“ from the main menu. In the resulting submenu choose “Request new password”. Enter your user name or email address to be emailed a new single use password. As soon as you log in again make sure you change your password.

How do I change my user settings and / or password?

After you log in you will get an additional menu on the right hand side of the screen. Choose “My Account” from that menu. You will be taken to a user area that give you access to all of your user settings.

Posting Questions

How do I post to the forums?

Log into your user account. From there choose either:

  1. “Post new Forum topic” to start a new discussion
  2. Click on an existing discussion topic to reply to that conversation 
  3. The Forum screen has three fields: Subject, Forums & Body. Fill in all three fields and choose “save” to post your comments.

How do I edit or delete a post?

To edit a post you have added click on your post and edit it in the box provided. Users cannot delete posts

How do I format my post?

At the top of the body field of topic data entry form you will see a series of icons. These icons allow you to format your post. Hover over one of those icons to find out what it does.

Who moderates the discussion forums?

The discussion forums are moderated by UReach Toronto partners. They could be individuals with a regular responsibility with UReach Toronto or they may be individuals invited to moderate a specific forum topic.
